Hello everybody,

my name is Colin Haris, and I am a volunteer at the Streetlytes organisation for homeless people.

I served in the British military for 15 years and I served in Northern Ireland for 3 tours when the troubles were taking place. I also spent some time in the Caribbean repairing and rebuilding buildings as I served in the Royal Electrical Engineers. After leaving the military, I became homeless and extremely unwell with mental health, and my life was not very good. My life went downhill fast. My life was becoming a problem. I couldn’t get back to a normal life. I did get some help from the military but not enough. My life spiralled out of control for many years. My family would not help me, so I heard about the Streetlytes project. I went to the project for some time, then became a volunteer for about 12 years and through them, my life has improved.

I now have a home and Streetlytes helped me to improve my life back to a normal lifestyle and I have Streetlytes to thank.
